• tariff-claims.csv (71 kB) — 426 rows: 204 cited tariff items and 222 claimed absences, each with its item number and rate.

Which tariffs this is about

Two sets of tariffs are running at once and they are easy to confuse. This dataset covers Canada's counter-tariffs on US goods entering Canada, effective 8 September 2026, and nothing else. United States tariffs on Canadian goods entering the US are a different measure covering different goods, and are not in here.

American wine carries no Canadian surtax; Canadian wine going south is tariffed under the other measure. Both are true, and they answer different questions.

Where the numbers come from

Department of Finance, “Complete list of U.S. products subject to counter tariffs”, on canada.ca. Retrieved 2026-08-28, 648 tariff items. Every rate is read from that file rather than from reporting about it, and the site's build fails if any rate here stops matching.

An absence claim means no item on the official list starts with that prefix. Search the Finance list for the tariff_item value in any row: a number that returns no hit is not on the list, and that is the entire basis of every claim=absent row.

The list can be amended before 8 September, and remission orders commonly follow. Re-check against the live page before publishing.
